In 2015, an agreement was reached so that the documenta Archive, which had been dependent on the Kassel City Council since its creation, would be transferred to the organization responsible for the documenta exhibitions.
That same year I was commissioned to carry out a comprehensive study which would reflect the current status of the archive, created in 1961, and made proposals addressed to consolidate it and develop its full potential in the future.
After three months of research, I presented a project that included proposals in very different aspects, such as the definition of the archive’s scope, the ideal composition of the staff and also conservation strategies, distribution of spaces, processes of acquisition and cataloguing, copyright issues and many other aspects related to the day-to-day management of an archive.
